Riverview School District is now connected to HearMeWA, a free statewide tip and support line that connects young people with trained crisis counselors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For Riverview families, the service provides another place children and young adults can turn when they need help, including overnight, on weekends and during school breaks.
Operated by the Washington State Attorney General’s Office in partnership with the Sandy Hook Promise Crisis Center, HearMeWA serves Washington youth up to age 25. Young people can seek support for bullying, anxiety, depression, abuse, substance use, threats of violence or concerns about a friend. Reports may be made anonymously.
HearMeWA connects each person with a crisis counselor who assesses the concern and directs it to the appropriate responders. Life-safety emergencies are routed to 911, while school-related concerns are forwarded to the district for follow-up.
This approach gives young people an immediate human response when they reach out, even when school is closed.
HearMeWA will eventually replace Vector Alert as Riverview’s tip reporting system, however, both systems will remain available throughout this school year to support a smooth transition.
Families can find HearMeWA on the district website and individual school websites. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to talk with their children about the service and save its phone number so it is easy to find when needed.
To reach HearMeWA, call 888-537-1634. For an immediate emergency, call 911.
