Carol Van Noy

Legislative Representative

Carol Van Noy is currently serving as legislative representative on the Riverview School Board of Directors. She has served as board president and vice president at different times. She is most proud of the board’s achievements in these areas: Hiring our new superintendent, Dr. Susan Leach, Riverview's Strategic Planning process, the RSD Citizen’s Budget and work with Student Voice. The Riverview School Board was awarded ‘State Board of the Year’ in 2016 and has been a state ‘Board of Distinction’ recipient every year since.

 

She has served on the board of the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA), was co-founder of the Riverview Education Foundation, former bond and levy chairperson, and a presenter at state and national conferences.

Carol works in the nonprofit sector as a fundraiser, currently with Empower Youth Network, and formerly with United Way of King County. She is a student mentor and is passionate about public education and the success of every student!

Lori Oviatt

President

Lori Oviatt was appointed to the Riverview Board of Directors on April 25, 2006 and has since served on the board. She is an active Riverview School District volunteer and community member since moving to Duvall in 1994. Her service on the Eagle Rock Multi-Aged Site-Based Council, District Communication Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Superintendent Search Committee, Interview Committee, Co-Curricular Committee, District Technology Committee and Senior Project committee has earned her the Riverview Bridge-Builder service pin.

She also serves on several state associations for the Washington State School Directors Association, the annual conference planning committee, the Interscholastic Activities Committee, and was selected to serve on the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Board of Directors as well as the SEA-KING District 2 Board of Directors.

Ms. Oviatt earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Iowa State University, and formerly taught second grade in Iowa. She has taught at all levels, including adult education. Ms. Oviatt works with many corporations as a Curriculum Designer and Learning Solutions provider. She also works for nonprofit agencies helping to identify training and program needs. She and her husband, James, have a blended family of five children with three children, who all graduated from Cedarcrest High School. She has two grandchildren attending the Riverview School District.

Sabrina Parnell

Vice Director

Sabrina Parnell was appointed to the Riverview Board of Directors in 2015 and was re-elected to that position in November 2015, 2017, and 2021. Married to Robert Parnell, they have three children, each having graduated from Cedarcrest High School. They have lived in Duvall since 2002. 

 

Prior to her appointment to the Riverview Board of Directors, Mrs. Parnell was very active in the Riverview School District, serving on numerous committees and in the PTA.  She also completed the Riverview Ambassador Program in 2015. 

Mrs. Parnell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Gonzaga University in 1991. The daughter of two long-time public school teachers, she is a strong advocate for public education and believes that every child has the ability to succeed and the right to an education that will ensure they can do that.

Danny Edwards

Director

Danny Edwards was appointed to the School Board on November 13, 2007, to fulfill the remaining term of office created when Phil Gore resigned. He has lived in Duvall since 1993 and has always been active in the community.

 

In June 2008, Mr. Edwards was elected Board Legislative Representative, serving as the board's liaison with the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA) and state legislators. In 2010, Mr. Edwards was elected to the WSSDA Legislative Committee, was elected Vice-Chair of the Committee the following year, and in November of 2012 was elected Chair of the Committee, where he served two terms. Since 2011, he has also served on the Federal Relations Network, an organization committed to grassroots advocacy for public education. Mr. Edwards was elected Vice-President of WSSDA in 2020, President-Elect in 2021, and is currently serving as the President of WSSDA for 2022. Locally, Mr. Edwards has served as President of the Rotary Club of Duvall for two terms, President of the Duvall Chamber of Commerce for two terms, and on the Board of Directors for the Sno-Valley Senior Center for four years. 

Mr. Edwards has worked for the financial services firm, Edward Jones, since 1997 and has run the Duvall office since 2003. He holds the designation of Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) from the College of Financial Planning in Washington D.C., and the designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He and his wife, Christina, have seven children between them, all of whom currently attend or have attended school in our District.

Jodi Fletcher

Director

Jodi Fletcher was elected to the RSD Board of Directors in November of 2011 and grew up in rural Illinois, outside of Chicago. She attended Illinois State University, and was selected to a college work program at Walt Disney World in Florida. 

 

Ms. Fletcher has been employed in a variety of positions, including work with Walt Disney Feature Animation in California, George Lucas’ ILM, and the airline industry.  She has two children who graduated from Cedarcrest High School. Because her children attended school in the district since Kindergarten and participated in a variety of programs, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge, including experience with Core, Multi-Age, Honors, and Academically Talented Programs.
