What you need to know about the update to the mail system


As of July 9th the District mail server has been replaced. This will change the way you access your mailbox from both mobile devices as well as web browsers. Important Changes you need to be aware of:

  • All users are now moved to the new mail server
  • Some user preferences are not moved to the new server, for example Color Settings, Signature Files, Shared Calendars
  • Public Folders are being redesigned, and some are not available at this time
  • District Webmail access is now "encripted" and may need a "certificate" installed into your web browser to proceed (see next section).


Accessing District Mail via Web Browser

  • With newer web browsers, upon accessing the site you will be prompted with an alert for the web site certificate (certificates ensure data is encrypted across the internet for security purposes). See image below for additional explanations:

You have two choices at this point:

  1. Install Certificate if it is your home or other personal computer, this will prevent the alert. See below.
  2. Ignore the alert and 'Continue to this website'

*The login page has changed, and you now must login with the RIVERVIEW\yourusername format followed by your usual computer login password.*

Note: If you are in the DO domain (ESC) your logon is do\username

 

Passwords: As part of the email migration we would like to remind you that your email user password may have been reset. If you are unable to access your account at this time please use your default riverview computer log in password (hint: firstxxxx123). Users are then encouraged to change their password. You can do that upon returning to work or through your Webmail. To do that in Webmail go to the top right corner under Options and choose "change password".

How to install the certificate:


Internet Explorer 8 and Higher:

  • Go to Webmail Login
  • Proceed with alert by clicking 'Continue to this website'
  • Locate the small red shield in the address bar and click it
  • Choose View Certificates
  • Click Install Certificate
  • Accept all default prompts of the installation wizard

Close all browser sessions (windows and tabs). You will no longer be prompted with the Alert.

 

Firefox:

  • Go to
